When you create an account or use TallyMsg, we collect the following information:
- Name: Your first and last name, used to personalise your account experience.
- Email Address: Used for account verification and authentication via one-time codes.
- Phone Number: Used to link your Telegram account to your TallyMsg account.
- Currency Preference: Your preferred currency for displaying expense data across the dashboard and reports.
- Message Content: Expenses you log via Telegram or WhatsApp, including text messages, photos of receipts, and voice notes.
- Transaction Data: Date, amount, category, and merchant information extracted from your messages.
We do not collect your bank account details, credit card numbers, or any financial credentials. TallyMsg works exclusively with the messages you choose to send us.
2How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to provide and improve the TallyMsg service. Specifically:
- To verify your identity and keep your account secure.
- To automatically categorise and log your expenses.
- To generate your spending reports and dashboard insights.
- To send you budget alerts when you approach or exceed a category limit.
- To deliver weekly spending digests to Pro plan users.
- To improve the accuracy and quality of the service over time.
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
3Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account remains active. If you cancel your subscription, your account and data remain accessible until the end of the current billing period.
Your accessible transaction history depends on your plan:
- Free plan: Last 3 months.
- Starter plan: Unlimited.
- Pro plan: Unlimited.
If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
4Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously. All data is encrypted both in storage and in transit using industry-standard protocols. Access to your data is restricted to authorised systems and personnel only. We do not store payment card details - all payment processing is handled entirely by our third-party payments partner, and we never receive or retain your card information.
5Third-Party Services
We work with trusted third-party providers to deliver specific functions. Each provider is bound by a data processing agreement and is only given access to the data strictly necessary for their function:
- Message Processing: Your expense messages are analysed by automated systems to extract spending details such as amount, merchant, and category.
- Payments: Subscription payments are processed securely by our third-party payments partner. We never store or have access to your payment card details.
- Data Hosting: Your data is stored with secure cloud hosting providers under strict access controls and confidentiality obligations.
6Cookies & Sessions
TallyMsg uses a secure, HTTP-only session token to keep you logged in to the web dashboard. This token is stored in your browser's secure cookie storage and cannot be accessed by browser scripts or third-party code. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any technology that tracks you across other websites.
7Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: You can view your account information and transaction data through the dashboard at any time.
- Export: Starter and Pro users can export their transaction history as a CSV file. Pro users can also export a PDF report. Requests outside the dashboard can be made by contacting us.
- Correction: You can update your name, email, and other account details through the dashboard settings.
- Deletion: You can request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@tallymsg.app.
8Children's Privacy
TallyMsg is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account on our platform, please contact us at privacy@tallymsg.app and we will remove the account and associated data promptly.
9Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via email or a notice within the dashboard. Your continued use of TallyMsg after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
