How do I get started?

Sign up at tallymsg.app, pick a plan, and enter your phone number. We'll walk you through connecting @TallyMsgBot on Telegram - it takes about 30 seconds. Once connected, just send your first expense and you're done.

How does the message logging work?

Send a message to @TallyMsgBot on Telegram describing an expense - for example, 'spent 32 at Carrefour food'. Our AI identifies the amount, merchant, and category automatically, logs it to your account, and replies with a confirmation in under 2 seconds.

What types of messages can I send?

On any paid plan, you can send text messages, photos of receipts, or voice notes. Text logging is available on the Free plan with a daily limit. Receipt image scanning is available on Starter and above. Voice note logging is a Pro-only feature.

What expense categories are available?

TallyMsg automatically assigns one of 9 built-in categories: Food & Dining, Transport, Health, Entertainment, Shopping, Utilities, Subscriptions, Work & Education, and Other. Pro users can also create their own custom categories on top of these.

How do budget alerts work?

On the Budgets page in the dashboard, you can set a spending limit for any category. When you get close to or exceed a limit, TallyMsg sends you an alert directly in the Telegram chat - no notification buried in an app.

Can I export my transaction history?

Yes. Starter and Pro users can export a CSV file from the Reports page. Pro users can also export a formatted PDF report. Both exports cover the selected month and include all transaction details.

Is there an annual billing option?

Yes. You can switch to annual billing on the pricing page and save 17% compared to monthly. Starter comes to $99.99/year and Pro to $199.99/year. You can toggle between monthly and annual at any time.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes. You can cancel from the dashboard at any time. Your plan's features remain active until the end of the current billing period - nothing is cut off immediately.

What platforms do you support?

Currently, we support Telegram. WhatsApp support is coming soon - when it launches, you'll be able to use both with the same TallyMsg account.

Is my financial data secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. TallyMsg never asks for your bank credentials or account numbers. We only process the messages you explicitly send to the bot. All data is encrypted in storage and in transit. Login uses a one-time code sent via Telegram - there is no password to compromise.

Do you have a mobile app?

No, and that's intentional. TallyMsg works inside the messaging apps you already have on your phone. The web dashboard at tallymsg.app is fully mobile-responsive, so you get full graphs and exports without installing anything extra.
